If your device is really worse for wear, it may be time to find a place to recycle it.
- Disconnect your accounts and delete all your personal data
Your device shouldn’t leave your hands with your data still in it (unless that’s what you’re into). Disconnect your Google or iCloud accounts, back up any files you’d like to keep, and then reset your device. - Find a recycling company that will take your device
Once you’ve made sure your device no longer has any of your information on it, do a quick search here to find a place close to you. Make sure to check whether your battery needs to be removed and recycled separately. Find recycling centers
Your tech matters, not only to you, but to the whole world. You may not have realized it, but each device you own has a hefty environmental impact — from the moment it’s manufactured to the moment that it’s discarded. We need to slow down on buying new tech. We’re running out of resources, and of time.
But we’re not running out of options. At least not yet. We can still reduce, reuse, repair, refurbish, and recycle.
