Can I update my iPad to the newest version of iPadOS?

Planned software obsolescence involves speeding up the aging of a device via updates to its operating system. It is awful, and dangerously harmful.

 

If your iPad is compatible with iPadOS 14 (the equivalent of iOS14), you will not have any compatibility issue with apps from the App Store. If your iPad is compatible with iOS 12 or higher (before iPadOS 14, the operating system for iPad is called iOS and not iPadOS), you should be fine for most apps.

As far as games are concerned, you should be fine.
